Yes, yes, our children have announced they are getting married to their kindi friends. Emily is soooo in love with Billy she can hardly say his name because her cheeks are hurting from the splitting ear to ear smile on her face. She runs around like a mad thing giggling if you mention his name. So cute, so sweet, so funny but at 4? Goodness me, I don’t remember liking any boy at 4. And believe it or not he kissed her!! I remember the day clearly, about a week ago when I picked the kids up and Emily has rushed to me telling me she has a secret to tell me. I bend down and she lets it spill – Billy kissed me! She says. I can see she can hardly keep from squealing in delight. I’m not sure what to say at first and then it comes to me… where? I ask. On the lips! Oh my. How did this all come about I ask her and she tells me the story…. Her, Billy & Stacey were playing when Billy asked Stacey to go away because he wanted to kiss Emily but Stacey wouldn’t because she wanted to watch. So Billy kissed Emily in front of Stacey. What then I asked – Billy ran away. What did you do Emily I ask, she tells me she ran away too. Hee hee Emily’s first kiss. Do you remember this day my sweet Emily? Billy called out to you as we got into the car “bye girlfriend” and you haven’t stopped smiling since.
You saw him again just last Saturday at Hayleys birthday. You didn’t expect him to be there and when you saw him you stopped short and whispered “Billy’s here”. You danced like a princess holding your dress out to the sides spinning gracefully. You looked so beautiful, you also had a gorgeous large red ribbon bow on your headband that sat to the side. I later learned from one of the mums that Billy kissed you again and was told no more.
And Thomas is marrying his sweetheart Malia. He took her 3 daffodils from the garden today and gave them to her this morning at kindi. Andrew was home today and lucky enough to witness this sweet, shy exchange. Thomas blushed bless him. Malia ran to her mum overjoyed, absolutely thrilled! She surprised me in how happy she was. It was very nice. Thomas was a proud boy. What is so sweet is that it was all Thomas’s idea, I think Malia is lucky to have a sweet boy like Thomas to give her flowers. I wonder if she’ll remember it in later years. Her mum may because she was there and she too seemed very happy about it. Thomas was so looking forward to seeing Malia this morning that at breakfast he started to sing her name aloud. Too cute.
So at the age of 4 we have had to explain to our dear sweet children that kissing is not allowed until high school. I’m sure this is all very innocent, but it does seem weird and I guess it’s not unusual as all the kids seem to be playing this marrying game.
